The crofting community of Skye of Curr is located close to Dulnain Bridge, a small Highland village with a shop/post office, garage, hotels and the popular Speyside Heather Centre & cafe which attracts many tourists. Primary and secondary schooling is close by at Grantown-on-Spey four miles away. The locality is within the Cairngorm National Park, and the magnificent scenery of Strathspey can be enjoyed with forest walks, climbing, horse-riding, shooting and fishing, plus there are several excellent 18 hole golf courses in the area. The Strathspey Railway runs between the communities of Broomhill, Boat of Garten and Aviemore. The Strathspey Angling Improvement Association enjoys 12 miles on both banks of the River Dulnain and 6.5 miles on the River Spey.
Grantown on Spey (4 miles) & Aviemore (8 miles) offer more amenities with shops, hotels, restaurants, bars, swimming pool, gym and supermarkets. The local railway and bus station in Aviemore provides direct access to Inverness, Perth & London. Inverness Airport is approx an hour’s drive with direct flights to London and other cities.
These 4 building plots of 0.14 Acre each are located just off the Skye of Curr road, adjacent to Parkhead Croft, on a level site and with views over surrounding farmland and the Cairngorm Mountains. Mains services are all close by. They offer a rare opportunity to build your own house within the Cairngorms National Park in a semi-rural setting.
Planning Permission in Principle was granted in July 2018 for a period of 3 years. Detailed planning will be required, with elements of a traditional style being required, ie. single or 1.5 storey in height, roof not less than 40o pitch and not more than 45o pitch, rectangular style with gable ends etc. Further details can be found on the Highland Council Planning website, ref: 18/02105/PIP.
Please note: a new 40mph speed limit (currently 60mph) will be imposed on the Skye of Curr road, from the existing 30mph sign to its junction with the A95.
Directions:
Turn off the A95 at the Speyside Heather Centre and continue up this road for approximately half a mile. The plots are situated on the right hand side of the road, just before Parkhead Croft. Alternatively, they are approximately a mile from Dulnain Bridge.
